Tomáš S. Polívka
Music journalist, musician, traveller and photographer. Currently writes for the Lidové noviny paper, the monthly UNI, Harmonie and Rock & All plus the web radio station Český rozhlas Jazz. Embarks on travels predominantly but not exclusively related to music, and visits Ethiopia and Burma twice yearly. He has made trips to a number of African countries, the Middle East, Indonesia, mainland Southeast Asia, India, China and parts of Latin America, while has also ventured to places as far-flung as the Antarctic and Siberia. Having earned a living as a musician during the 90s, including with the group Domácí kapela (Local Band), he also released the solo album Stíny do ticha (Shadows into Silence). In addition to this, he has experience as a music producer. He occasionally plays with the blues-rock trio The Critics. He sponsors the APH awards in the Jazz & Blues and World Music categories. He has organised three photography exhibitions inspired by music and travel.
