Yusef Komunyakaa

Pullitzer Prize winning American poet, whose texts marry the personal experiences of the black village life before the inception of The African-American Civil Rights Movement and a direct military participant in the Vietnam War.

Yusef Komunyakaa was awarded with Neon Vernacular Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and the Pullitzer Prize in poetry in 1994. He received the Louisiana Writer Award for his contribution to poetry in 2007. Since 2004, he has delved into the realms of theatre and performancce arts.
